Gladstone Park, its history and progress.
Dawn breaking in Gladstone Park during early Autumn |
Welcome to Gladstone Park, a ninety-seven acre oasis situated in NW London, purchased for the people of Willesden in 1900 by the Willesden Urban District Council (with a little help from their friends) for just under £52,000.00 - now priceless!
The following pages set out to provide information about the history of the park from the beginning, right up to the present day. Should anyone reading these pages have anything else to add, perhaps a recollection of a significant event that took place or a milestone in the development of the park to what it is today, please e-mail us with that information in order that we may use it on this website. Gladstone Park, the beginning. The reasons for the purchase of Gladstone Park, its early history, decisions and events that shaped its future; extracts from a book kindly supplied by Cliff Wadsworth, co-author, with the late Juliette Soester of the book "A View of Gladstone Park & Dollis Hill House".
